About the event
Composer and violinist Alexey Aigui presented his chamber project Les Cordes Sensibles at Jaani Church — music for solo violin and string ensemble. It was the project’s first performance in Estonia, and the church acoustics gave Aigui’s neoclassical language unusual space and depth.
The programme combined minimalist precision, the vivid atmosphere of film music and responsive ensemble playing. The solo violin did not stand above the other strings, but remained in constant dialogue with them — at times sharp and tense, at others almost weightless.
